How to Stop Arguing in Relationship

Are you and your spouse unable to discuss things calmly? Does it feel as if you are always walking through a minefield in which any step could set off an explosive dispute?
If so, be assured that things can improve. But first you need to find out why you and your spouse argue so much.

                               WHY IT HAPPENS

Misunderstandings.

A wife named Jillian admits: “Sometimes I say something to my husband and it doesn’t come out as I intended. Or I am convinced that I told him something, when I really only dreamed that I told him. That’s actually happened!”

Differences.

No matter how compatible you and your spouse may seem to be, your views on some matters will differ. Why? Because no two people are exactly alike—a fact that can add either variety or tension to marriage. For many couples, the result is tension.

Poor role models.

“My parents argued a lot and made disrespectful comments to each other,” says a wife named Rachel, “so when I got married I talked to my husband the way my mother talked to my father. I had not learned how to show respect.”

Deeper concerns.

Often, a fiery argument is really about something other than the event that ignited it. For example, a dispute that starts with “You’re always late!” may not be about the need for punctuality but about one spouse feeling that he or she has been treated inconsiderately.
Whatever the cause, frequent arguing can adversely affect your health and can even be a predictor of eventual divorce. How, then, can you stop arguing?

                                  WHAT YOU CAN DO

A key to preventing arguments is identifying the underlying issues that fuel them. When things are calm, try the following exercise with your spouse.
1. On separate sheets of paper, each of you should write down the topic of a recent argument. For example, a husband might write, “You spent the whole day with your friends and didn’t call me to tell me where you were.” A wife might write, “You got upset because I spent time with my friends.”
2. With an open mind, discuss the following: Was the matter really that serious? Could it have been overlooked? In some cases, for the sake of peace, it may suffice to agree to disagree and to cover over the matter with love.—Bible principle: Proverbs 17:9.
If you and your spouse conclude that the matter was trivial, apologize to each other and consider it settled.—Bible principle: Colossians 3:13, 14.
If the matter seems more serious to one or both of you, proceed to the next step.
3. Write down how you felt during the argument, and have your spouse do the same. For example, a husband might write, “I felt that you preferred the company of your friends over my company.” A wife might write, “I felt that you were treating me as if I were a child who had to check in with her father.”
4. Swap papers with your spouse, and read each other’s comments. What was your spouse’s deeper concern during the argument? Discuss what each of you could have done differently to address the underlying issues without arguing.—Bible principle: Proverbs 29:11.
5. Discuss what you learned from this exercise. How can you use what you learned to solve or prevent a future argument?

BREAKING! B' Haram Kills 13 In Fresh Niger Village Attack

Dreaded Islamist sect, Boko Haram has attacked a village in Niger state, leaving thirteen people dead.

This is coming just hours after the Nigerian troops recorded significant victory in its battle against the insurgents, where over 300 people were freed from the terrorists’ den.

According to Vanguard reports, Mallam Ligari, a local official in Diffa region of the state confirmed the casualties on Wednesday.
“Thirteen people were executed and three others suffered gunshot wounds in an attack by Boko Haram Tuesday evening in Ala village,” he was quoted to have told AFP.

Wenger Strongly Criticizes Arsenal Stars After Shameful Defeat

The manager of Arsenal, Arsene Wenger, has criticised his players after a 3-0 loss to Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup.
Wenger was highly critical of his side.
It was Arsenal’s biggest defeat to lower-league opposition since 1959.
Wenger said: “We were not at the level that is requested to play a team of the quality of Sheffield Wednesday. We have to congratulate them. They were sharper, quicker, more decisive than us. We had a lot of the ball but we didn’t create anything, especially in the middle of the park. Of course it [defending] was disappointing. The occasion was too great for the younger players. They are not ready to play at this level – none of them. We conceded two from set-pieces and were very naive. We have to analyse it [the defeat] and I think we knew at the start of the game that if something happened to us, we were a bit short [on back-up options]. “

Some have suggested that the North Londoners are out of the competition because of youngsters. Glen Kamara and Alex Iwobi started and Krystian Bielik and Ismael Bennacer were introduced from the bench.
However,  the statistics show that Arsenal had every chance with 71% ball possession.

Woman Rape Man

A 40-year-old woman has been charged with marital rape in the first indictment of its kind in South Korea.
The woman, identified only as Shim, locked her partner, surnamed Kim, in their family house for 29 hours and forced him to have sex with her. Shim is believed to have been sexually abusing her husband in order to obtain exculpatory evidence for divorce procedures.
She has become the first woman in the country to be charged with spousal rape. Earlier this year, another woman was charged with attempted rape for drugging her ex-boyfriend, tying him up and hitting with a hammer. However, she claimed she did not want to rape him.
Once widely condoned or ignored by law and society, marital rape is now opposed by many societies around the world, repudiated by international conventions, and increasingly criminalized. Still, in many countries, marital rape either remains outside the law, or is illegal but widely tolerated, with the laws against it being rarely enforced.

Why PDP Chieftain Vote For Buhari - PDP Chieftain Opens Up

Alhaji Sa’idu Gumburawa, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto state disclosed that he voted for President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 presidential election.
Speaking on Tuesday, October 27, at Gumburawa village in Wamakko local government area, Gumburawa, a former member of the House of Representatives said he did so because he believed in Buhari’s change agenda, NAN reports.
He said: “I am a PDP man, but I voted for Buhari during the last presidential election due to my conviction that he has the Nigerian project topmost in his mind.”
According to him, Nigeria will be a better place in the next two years under President Buhari as the change agenda would have started to show.
He advised the president to ignore unnecessary distractions but heed constructive criticisms.Showing support for Buhari’s anti-corruption fight, Gumburawa said proactive measures should be taken to bring back all the country’s stolen funds stashed away in other countries.
The PDP chieftain urged the National Assembly to support the federal government’s change agenda by making relevant laws that would bring about rejuvenation of the nation.
The former lawmaker also called on Nigerians to patient with the president as he needed time to fully correct the wrongs of the past.
On the issue of insecurity, Gumburawa said: “More efforts should be made to provide the needed arms and ammunition, transportation, incentives and other logistics to the various security agencies in the country, to enable them discharge their mandate effectively.”
Buhari  won Nigeria’s presidential election by 2.57 million votes, according to official results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, defeating Goodluck Jonathan of the PDP.
The president said that his administration is building a new Nigeria and that the effort requires the support and participation of its citizens both at home and abroad.

Henry Predicts Guardiola Next Move

The legendary forward of Arsenal, Thierry Henry, predicts the next move of Bayern Munich coach, Pep Guardiola.
The former Barca coach’s contract expires in June and rumours say that he is not going to sign it again.
Henry, who won the Champions League under 44-year-old manager, states that Pep will move to EPL.
He said: “I think eventually he will come. He’s a competitor; he will want to win a title in every league possible. It will suit him, being here in the Premier League. He’s a great guy, [and he has a] great view of the game. He’s one or two steps ahead, he’s in control of everything, the way he loves the game is second to none. He is one of the best managers I’ve ever had. One thing that strikes me with him that you don’t see, he’s one of those guys who’s very demanding and [the] discipline that he has is on point. You need that amount of discipline to perform on and off the field.”
Furthermore, the French added: “He already speaks English, by the way… maybe that’s one thing that tells us he will come sooner rather than later.”

Prostitute Dies After Marathon Sex With Customers In Enugu

A commercial sex worker simply identified as Roseline has died after a marathon sex romp with customers in a brothel in Obollo-Afor, Enugu State. The incident, which occurred on Saturday, led to the arrest of one Ikechukwu Oga, who was the last customer that spent the night with the deceased.Ikechukwu had gone to a brothel where he met with the deceased and struck a sex deal.
Having agreed on the bargain, Ikechukwu said he was asked to wait for his turn, as someone was already on the line.
By the time he came back, Roseline was still on duty just as she pleaded with him to exercise patience, promising to be with him throughout the night.
She later invited him into the room for his turn but was unable to conclude the deal as the commercial sex worker complained of being tired which forced him to come down.
He reportedly slept off but was woken up by sympathizers who complained that Roseline was already dead.
“I did not conclude my first round of the deal before she complained that she was tired and that was at midnight.
I came down and that was the end of the sex match. I cannot say what led to her death, he said.
The corpse of the deceased have been recovered and deposited in a nearby hospital while the suspect is helping the police in their investigations.

Adeyeye Ogunwunsi

“He is Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi of Girsi Ruling House of Ile-Ife, State of Osun.
“This choice follows the completion of the due process by the kingmakers and the communication of their decision to Government.”
Ogunwusi was selected from 21 candidates presented by the Giesi ruling house.

SOLVING PROBLEM IN MARRIAGE

1. Set a time to discuss the issue.

“For everything there is an appointed time, . . . a  time to keep quiet and a time to speak.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1, 7) As demonstrated in the altercation quoted earlier, some problems may evoke strong emotions. If that happens, have the self-control to call a temporary halt—to “keep quiet”—before tempers flare. You can save your relationship from much damage if you heed the Bible’s advice: “Starting a quarrel is like a leak in a dam, so stop it before a fight breaks out.”Proverbs 17:14, New Century Version.
However, there is also “a time to speak.” Problems, like weeds, flourish when neglected. So do not ignore the issue, hoping it will just go away. If you call a halt to a discussion, show respect for your mate by picking a time in the near future when you will talk about the problem. Such a promise can help both of you apply the spirit of the Bible’s counsel: “Let the sun not set with you in a provoked state.” (Ephesians 4:26) Of course, you then need to follow through on your promise.
TRY THIS: Pick a regular time each week when you can discuss family problems. If you notice that you are more prone to argue at a certain time of day—for example, when you first arrive home from work or before you have eaten—agree not to discuss problems at those times. Rather, choose a time when you are both likely to be less stressed.

2. Express your opinion honestly and respectfully.

“Speak truth each one of you with his neighbor.” (Ephesians 4:25) If you are married, your closest neighbor is your spouse. So be honest and specific about your feelings when talking to your mate. Margareta, * who has been married for 26 years, says: “When I was newly married, I expected that my husband would just know how I felt when a problem arose. I learned that such an expectation was unrealistic. Now I try to express my thoughts and feelings clearly.”
Remember, your goal when discussing a problem is, not to win a battle or conquer an enemy, but simply to let your mate know your thoughts. To do so effectively, state what you think the problem is, then say when it arises, and then explain how it makes you feel. For example, if you are annoyed by your mate’s untidiness, you can respectfully say, ‘When you come home from work and leave your clothes on the floor [the when and what of the problem], I feel that my efforts to care for the home are not appreciated [explains exactly how you feel].’ Then tactfully suggest what you think would be a solution to the problem.
TRY THIS: To help you have your thoughts clearly in mind before talking to your mate, write down what you understand the problem to be and how you would like to resolve it.
Watch out for another two point very soon.

Ronaldo Receives Fourth European Golden Boot Award

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo received his record fourth Golden Boot award on Tuesday after leading all scorers in Europe’s domestic leagues last season.
The 30-year-old Portugal captain scored 48 goals in 35 Spanish league games to claim his third Golden Boot playing for Real Madrid. His other award came with Manchester United in 2007-08. No other player has won four.
Real Madrid President Florentino Perez praises his star player for the Golden Boot.
“This award goes back to show that we have a unique and exceptional player in Cristiano Ronaldo,” the Madrid president said during Tuesday’s ceremony.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is the only player in history to win the Golden Shoe four times.
“A few days ago he became Real Madrid’s [joint] all-time leading goalscorer and now Cristiano is picking up his fourth Golden Shoe.
“It is an honour to have him at our club. Cristiano Ronaldo came to Real Madrid to win all that he has won and now he wants more.
“There is something special about him. Despite winning so many trophies, he always wants more and never gets complacent.
“Thank you Cristiano Ronaldo, on behalf of all Madridistas, for all you have given us and for all you will give us.”
Ronaldo has also won three Ballon d’Or awards, as well as two UEFA Champions League titles, one each with Manchester United and Real Madrid.
When in December 2002, the leader of the defunct Biafra Republic, the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, declared that the South-East would produce the President of Nigeria in 2003, the Igbo nation rejoiced based on the hope that Nigerians would put the civil war behind them and vote for an Igbo president.
“It is time for an Igbo presidency, we have been cheated long enough, whoever says the Igbo nation will not rule the country in the forthcoming general election is making a great mistake,” Ojukwu had said.
To this end, a former Vice-President of Nigeria, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, joined the presidential race on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party but was roundly defeated by the then incumbent President Olusegun Obasanjo, who was gunning for a second term in office.
Months later, Ojukwu founded the All Progressive Grand Alliance and joined the presidential race but only got 1.48 per cent of the total votes cast. In 2007, Ojukwu contested again but got only 0.44 per cent of votes. In both elections, Ojukwu’s votes only came from the South-East. In fact, in Bayelsa State, he got only three votes.
Interestingly, in both elections, Ojukwu did not defeat the ruling PDP in the South-East, his area of strength.
But in 2014, the Igbo endorsed former President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP during the last general election and supported him through and through. Jonathan, who is from the Ijaw ethnic group in Bayelsa State, got more than 75 per cent of the total votes cast in the South-East.
With Jonathan’s ultimate defeat in the more populated North and the South-West, Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress emerged the winner of the presidential race and the Igbo lost out in the national scheme of things since the PDP became the minority in the National Assembly as well.
For this reason, the top four positions in the country have gone to other geopolitical zones. The Igbo have also received the least number of federal appointments under Buhari.
The South-East is the smallest geopolitical zone in the country in terms of land mass and number of states. Geographically, the entire South-East, which is made up of five states, is half the size of Borno State.
Because the national strength of a geopolitical zone is determined by the number of states, the Igbo have the lowest number of seats in the Senate, the House of Representatives and the Federal Executive Council while the North-West, with seven states, has the biggest political advantage in the country.
Sadly for the Igbo, their fortunes might not change anytime soon since the presidency might continue to elude them till 2023. The reason is not far-fetched. The two major parties in Nigeria, the APC and the PDP, are most likely to present northerners as their presidential candidates in 2019
Already, the PDP has zoned its presidency to the North. At its National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja, the PDP endorsed a report submitted by the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, who was also the head of the post-election review committee.
According to the report, the North should produce the next presidential candidate of the PDP as this was the only way the APC could be defeated. Ironically, Ekweremadu, who headed the committee, is also from the South-East.
Reacting to this development, the Deputy National Organising Secretary of APGA, Campbell Umeh-Nzekwe, said 2019 presents the best opportunity for the South-East to produce the President.
Umeh-Nzekwe, who is also the leader of APGA in Lagos State, said since both the PDP and the APC had zoned the Presidency to the North, the votes in the North would be divided.
He, therefore, said this was the time for APGA to consolidate its hold on the South-East.
Umeh-Nzekwe said it was unfortunate that the Igbo only gave bloc votes to politicians from other geopolitical zones but continued to shun their own people. He, however, argued that the Igbo elements in the PDP would awake from their slumber and join hands with APGA in 2019 to ensure that their kinsman is made President.
He said, “The PDP has zoned its presidency to the North while the national chairman slot has been zoned to the South-West. APGA has thus zoned the presidency to the South-East. Hence, the PDP will be buried in the South-East in 2019.
“Those Igbo who used the PDP to destabilise the Igbo race will naturally rejoin their brothers and sisters in APGA to work towards claiming the presidency.
“Since we helped a Yoruba man, Olusegun Obasanjo, to become President; a Fulani man, Umaru Yar’Adua, to become President; and an Ijaw man, Goodluck Jonathan, to also become President, no self-respecting Igbo man will deny his fellow Igbo the opportunity of becoming President in 2019.”
The Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Joe Igbokwe, who is also from the South-East, however, said that for the Igbo to rule Nigeria, they must master the art of opposition politics for the next 10 years.
He said one of the reasons that the Igbo never won presidential elections was because they were always making deals and forming alliances with the government in power. He said the Igbo never built solid political structures but continued to rely on the power base of other geopolitical zones.
He noted that this was the case in the First Republic, Second Republic, Third Republic and the first 16 years of the Fourth Republic. He said this development made it difficult for the Igbo to carve a niche for themselves and become a force to be reckoned with.
Igbokwe said, “I want the Igbo nation, where I come from, to play opposition politics in Nigeria at least for the next 10 years so that the world will take them serious once again in matters of Nigerian politics. In the First Republic, the Igbo-dominated the NCNC (National Conference of Nigerian Citizens) formed an alliance with the northern-based (Northern Peoples Congress) to form a government at the centre.
“In the Second Republic, the Igbo-dominated NPP (Nigerian Peoples Party) again teamed up with the NPN (National Party of Nigeria) to form the national government in the centre.
“In the Third Republic, during the Northern Republican Convention/Social Democratic Party era, MKO Abiola won the election fair and square on the platform of the SDP but the majority of the Igbo, led by the late Odumegwu Ojukwu, the late Evan Enwerem, and Okwesilieze Nwodo, teamed up with some other prominent Igbo leaders and even some prominent Yoruba leaders to support Ibrahim Babangida, Ernest Shonekan, and Sani Abacha in sustaining the annulment of the June 12, 1993 election. Again, for 16 years, the PDP was in power in Nigeria, and the Igbo were with the PDP.”
The APC spokesperson said the Igbo did not have sacrificial leaders like MKO Abiola who died protecting his mandate and refused to be bought.
Igbokwe further noted that the absence of a unifying leader in the South-East is also affecting the politics of the zone. He said for instance, the Yoruba interest was being propelled by the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
He said there is the need for the Igbo to shun money politics.
A member of the PDP Board of Trustees, who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity, said the Igbo must have ‘unity of purpose’. He said the Igbo were not known for making sacrifices.
He said, “In 2008, we zoned the office of the PDP national chairman to the South-East. However, when we asked the South-East caucus to present a candidate, 20 people signified interest. Some of those who signified interest were Rochas Okorocha, Senator Pius Anyim and a former Governor of Ebonyi State, Sam Egwu.
“They all refused to step down for one another until we intervened and held a series of meetings. It was after such an intervention that Prince Vincent Ogbulafor emerged the chairman. The moment we zone the presidency to the South-East, be sure that several candidates will emerge. The Igbo need to be more united if they will ever get the presidency.”
A former Governor of the old Kaduna State, Balarabe Musa, told our correspondent on the telephone that it would be unfair not to allow the Igbo to produce the next President. Musa said although he would prefer the next President emerging on the basis of competence rather than tribe, Nigeria’s diversity must be respected.
He said, “The development is unhealthy. If we accept this idea of rotation, then we must apply it faithfully. And I think the South-East qualifies to benefit from this rotation. It would save Nigeria from a political crisis.
“Normally, it should be based on merit but there is the need to give every Nigerian a sense of belonging. The rotation is, therefore, justified and I think it is time that someone emerged from the South-East.
“The South-East must bring one person forward who is credible and can compete with any other candidate from any other part of Nigeria. If the North presents a candidate that is more competent than the South-East, then the South-East could easily lose.”
It’s been 13 years since Ojukwu prophesied that the South-East would rule Nigeria. When the prophecy will come to pass still remains unknown.

Oritsejafor Deceived Donathan With False Election Prophecy – Okotie

The General Overseer of Household of God Church, Rev. Chris Okotie, on Sunday said that were it not Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor’s “false” prophecy to former President Goodluck Jonathan, the latter (Jonathan) would not have contested the 2015 presidential election.
He said that the former President had initially made up his mind not to vie for the election, but stated that Oritsejafor “deceived” him with tales of victory as prophesied unto him by God.
Oritsejafor is the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria.
Okotie, who said this while delivering a sermon in his church on Sunday in Lagos, said, “Pastor Oritsejafor deceived Jonathan with a false prophecy from God that he (Jonathan) would win the election convincingly.”

He said, “The man (Jonathan) became convinced to contest after Oritsejafor had told him, using CAN’s name, that God had ordained him the winner of the 2015 presidential election.”
Okotie noted that some members of CAN and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria at that time knew Oritsejafor’s prophecy was false, but were scared to speak out.
He said, “They couldn’t speak out because they were scared of being insulted. They were scared of being insulted for saying rubbish. They were scared of being insulted on the pages of newspapers. So, while I continued to write and speak that Jonathan was not the man, those of them who knew the truth in what I was saying chose to keep quiet out of fear.
“I told CAN and PFN that Jonathan was not of God; that whosoever would win would be one that had built a tabernacle in the presence of God.
“I told CAN and PFN that Jonathan did not belong to the House of David and that since he did not belong to the household, his winning would bring more sorrow to Nigeria.”
Okotie said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory was an act of God, adding that his emergence was a sign of good things to come.
Quoting Hebrews chapter eight, verses one and two, Okotie said, “Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heavens.
“A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord picked, and not man.”
But responding on behalf of Oritsejafor, the Director of National Issues in CAN, Mr. Sunny Oibe, in an interview on Sunday, said that Okotie was looking for popularity through Oritsejafor.
He said, “Well, it is laughable if Chris Okotie is making this spurious allegation…We will not like to take issues with Okotie…because doing that will amount to making him popular. He is looking for popularity which he doesn’t have through Pastor Ayo and he is not going to get it.
“Okotie knows exactly that what he is saying is not true. Nigerians should know that Pastor Oritsejafor is not among those pastors that make prophecies. He does not make prophecy and never said anything during the campaigns. Why would he bring politics into the pulpit?
“This is where we Christians are getting it wrong. They are the ones misleading Nigerians. Oritsejafor never made any prophecy concerning Jonathan and the 2015 presidential election. I challenged any Nigerian with evidence to come forward.”
