Chile 2015 2nd Round: Golden Eaglets Confront Australia.

Nigeria’s U-17 national team, Golden Eaglets, have been commended for qualifying for the second round of the on-going FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile.

The Golden Eaglets who defeated United States of America and host Chile in the first two matches in Group A, surprisingly lost the last match to Croatia 1-2.
Sponsor of the national teams, Globacom, in a press statement in Lagos yesterday commended the team for qualifying for second round and advised the coaching crew to work on the lapses observed during the last group match.

“We wish to advise the team to remain focused for the task ahead while we enjoin the technical crew to ensure that the fittest players are lined up for the next encounter against the third placed team in either group C, D or E on Wednesday.

Globacom also congratulated the Falconets for defeating the Basetsana of South Africa in the first leg of the final qualifier for the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women World Cup holding in Chile.

The Super Falconets went ahead in first half through Chiwendu Ihezuo and increased the tally in the last minute of the half through Uchenna Kalu. The South Africans however pulled one back at the last minute through a penalty.

The telecommunication company advised the team intensify its efforts as it prepares to face the Basetsana in two weeks’ time in Johannesburg, adding that the players should concentrate and play with determination to qualify for the finals.

The Falconets have participated in every edition of FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup since the tournament started in 2002.
The eighth edition of FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup will be held in Papua New Guinea in 2016.
